On 18 May 2019, representatives from Polish schools in Victoria participated in a formal dinner organized to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Community Languages Australia – Ethnic School Association of Victoria (ESAV).
During this special event, held at the Bayview Eden Hotel in Melbourne, we celebrated the work of ESAV – an organization that has been supporting language and cultural education in ethnic schools since 1999, providing professional development for teachers, and securing funding for the development of ethnic schools.
The gathering of teachers from ethnic schools was also an excellent opportunity to celebrate National Community Language Schools Day, typically observed on the third Saturday of May.
The ceremony began with a speech from the Director of ESAV – Mr Stefan Romaniw OAM, who welcomed all guests and briefly spoke about Community Languages Australia – Ethnic School Association of Victoria, the organization's activities, and plans for the coming years.
Between courses, we could enjoy performances by dance groups, including those from the Iranian and Ukrainian communities. The music ensemble ensured that pieces from various parts of the world were included, allowing us to enjoy English, Greek, Russian, and Greek music, and partake in shared enjoyment on the dance floor.
The Polish schools were represented by Kasia Zawadzka, Monika Krajewski, and Joanna Gołębiowska from the Tadeusz Kościuszko Polish School in South Melbourne, Magdalena Delport and Justyna Tarnowska from the Józef Piłsudski Polish School in Rowville, and Ewa Pawlak, Jolanta Pawlak, Roman Sawko with his wife Patricia from the Nicolaus Copernicus Polish School in St. Albans.
